FOA Registers Trade Dispute (05/12/11)
The Fire Officers' Assocrepliation has registered a trade dispute over UK Governments' proposals to: -
- Increase employee pension contributions
- Alter the terms and benefits of existing occupational schemes from 2015
- Alter the pensionable status
of The Flexible Duty Supplement associated with the Flexible Duty System
Despite this action, we recognise that discussions with Government are continuing and we are keen to resolve the above areas of dispute through continued dialogue rather than ballot members with regard to taking some form of industrial action.
Flexible Duty Supplement (30/11/11)
The Association has sent a follow-up submission to DCLG in connection to the FOA response to consultation on amendments to the 1992 and 2006 Firefighters' Pension Schemes. This paper provides more details about the 1984 national agreement on the pensionable status of the Flexible Duty Supplement and calls for the proposal to be abandoned.
As the Government's response to this consultation has not yet been published, it is hoped that our comments will influence opinion. If Government retains the proposal, we have asked for the matter to be discussed at the 18 January Fire Pensions Committee meeting. You can read our follow up paper HERE.
Contribution Calculators
Contributions calculators produced by the Scottish Public Pensions Agency appear to have been removed. It is believed that these were only available to illustrate figures for the consulation period and have been removed on closure of the consultation.
