Suicidal Thoughts

Suicidal thoughts

If you are having thoughts about harming yourself or those around you, it is essential that you tell someone immediately and speak to your GP or a mental health professional. Don’t stay on your own and get some help straight away. Speak to someone you trust – it is critical that you tell someone NOW.

If you are supporting someone else with suicidal thoughts or you suspect that someone is considering taking their own life, click here for a link to access ‘It’s Safe to Talk About Suicide’. You have to ask the question

safeTALK

Suicide is the biggest killer of men under the age of 55. Are you and your Managers able to speak openly and directly to those who may be considering taking their own life?

safeTALK is a 3.5hr interactive delivery on Suicide Alertness for up to 30 people per session, enabling people to recognise the signs and the invitations put out by people who are considering suicide.

Over the course of their training, safeTALK participants will learn to:

* Notice and respond to situations where suicide thoughts might be present

* Recognize that invitations for help are often overlooked

* Move beyond the common tendency to miss, dismiss, and avoid suicide

* Apply the TALK steps: Tell, Ask, Listen, and KeepSafe

* Know community resources and how to connect someone with thoughts of suicide to them for further help
